One. But we’ll take it. Microsoft has released a new preview build of Windows 10 Mobile, that being build 15240. And it comes with the usual splattering of improvements and bug fixes, along with an odd feature or two.

Dona Sarkar, the head of the Windows Insider Program, revealed the rather disappointing news that the Fast ring build that was set to arrive this before this weekend had been delayed.

But she also hinted at a surprise in store for eager Insiders.

And it turns out that this was the surprise.

Microsoft has just unleashed Windows 10 Mobile Insider build 15240 to phones that are enrolled in the Fast ring of its preview program, and this new version comes with a single feature in tow — unless you have use of the Chinese Lunar calendar.

In which case, it makes it two new features.

Anyway, Emoji 5.0 is the big news this time around.

Just like the company did on PCs, it has added support for the latest Unicode updates on mobile. And a range of new additions are included, from snacks, actions and dinosaurs, to fantasy characters like genies, fairies, and zombies.

They all can be accessed via the touch keyboard and the Emoji Panel.

Microsoft also tweaked some of the original emoji designs based on the feedback it received, in order to improve on the consistency with how these emoticons are displayed on other platforms. They still maintain the distinct Windows style, however.

The above link highlights the general changes, improvements and fixes that are part of this build, as well as a few known issues.

So be sure to take a look at it if you are deploying this build.

Speaking of which, the Windows Insider team warned that this would be a staggered rollout, so some of you may not actually see this build until tomorrow morning in Windows Update.
