Makes total sense. Windows 11 rollout is underway, at the slowest of speeds, mind you. But with the new operating system now available, many are hoping to be included in the first wave of upgrades.

It’s an unbeatable feeling, the smell of a new OS.

Microsoft has repeatedly said that the whole process will take place in waves, and the rollout itself will likely end sometime in the middle of 2022 if things all go according to plan.

And for that to happen, there are a few things that you will need to ensure.

If your computer is eligible for the new operating system in terms of hardware, then you will need to take a look at the software side of things. More specifically, the operating system version that you are running on your machine.

Redmond notes that only PCs running Windows 10 version 2004 or later will be offered the update to Windows 11. On top of that, these machines should have the September 14 updates installed. Otherwise, the new OS will not show up in Windows Update.

Simply put, only up-to-date machines will be offered the option to get the new operating system, and computers running older versions of Windows 10 will need to be updated before getting Windows 11.

Makes total sense.
