Another amazing puzzle game, straight from the House of Windows. Among the many games Microsoft created in-house to mark the release of its modern operating platform is Gunpowder, a puzzle game set in the Wild West.

You play as Incendio (could they have picked a better name?) that is out to liberate the town’s gold from the evil boss Grimshaw with well over a hundred levels at your disposal.

The official description reads:

“125 levels of puzzles and mind-bending mayhem await as you blaze a gunpowder trail across the Wild West. Save the day using flaming wagons, Gatling guns, chandeliers, cannons, mine carts, and more! Burn your way through each puzzle and crack the safe with a cleverly placed powder keg!”

The visuals of this game are appropriately bright and sparkly. The environments are amazing, but the animations are really something. The game also supports achievements, allowing players to rank their skills against friends in Xbox leaderboards.

Microsoft is delivering an updated build to users right now, with several fixes and performance improvements implemented for both tablet and desktop users.

A paid version is also available that retails for $1.99, and seems to have charted good success. Both flavors support ARM processors, along with the x86 and x64 builds of Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.
