Another high-profile app has landed on the Windows Store. The anticipated official Mint app is now available both for Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8, and it is as neat a package as one would expect.

Mint.com actually launched back in 2007 as a web based service, and since then has become a popular way for people to keep track of and manage their finances. The app offers a simple way to track checking and saving accounts, along with credit cards, in one place.

Before we get to the technicalities, here is a selection from the official description:

“Mint pulls in all your personal finance accounts into one place, so you can manage your money from anywhere. Track your spending, create a budget, and save more.”

The free app offers Live Tile support, meaning users can get instant updates on the Start Screen. And the feature list is huge — the app can send remainders to alert when payments are due, along with warnings if it detects suspicious transactions or unusual activity. Personal finance never looked better.

It also offers money management advice based on the spending patterns of a user.

An application like this is only as good as its interface, and the developers have done a splendid job with the initial release. Colorful charts and graphs along with a clean Metro inspired look keep things nice and easy. The app supports all versions of Microsoft’s modern OS, including ARM based ones.
