Microsoft is pretty much the premier provider of great gaming titles on the Windows Store, and the company has recently launched Reckless Racing Ultimate, its newest racing game.
Top down racing was popularized in the heydays of PC gaming back in the 90s, but the genre has found new life on mobile platforms. Reckless Racing is arguably the best of the bunch, and now Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 users can join in the fun.
The official description:
“Race on a huge selection of road and dirt tracks, single and multi-player events, modded cars and trucks, and challenging game modes. Whether it’s a muscle car in the dirt, a monster truck in gravel, or a dune buggy in the snow, if you can build it – you can race it.
Tweak, upgrade and customize your car collection as you level up in your racing career. Earn your place on the Xbox Leaderboards in both Career and Arcade modes.”
Beautiful is the word best suited to describe the game.
The hand drawn rendered environments are an absolute joy to behold. And the same can be said of the verity of vehicles available — 24 different models are available, along with 20 career mode cups, 50 arcade challenges to go with over 150 customizable events.
The paid game is available for grabs for $4.99, though a lite free trial version is also on offer. Like all quality games, this one supports touch, mouse and keyboard along with Xbox controller via USB. Windows RT support is also on offer.
