How will life in the (technology) world go on without a regular dose of Windows 8.1 leaks, screenshots and information? Microsoft is in the final stretch of development work on this first refresh of its flagship operating system.

The RTM version of Windows 8.1 is slated to be delivered to OEMs by the end of this month, and new builds of the operating system are regularly being tested by partners across the world.

And it appears that a new build has just made an appearance.

A screenshot posted over at PCBeta reveals what appears to be Windows 8.1 build 9477. This obviously is another version of the in-development operating system that is quite likely more stable and a bit faster than previous builds.

No details accompany the leaked screenshots. Meaning it there is no idea if anything is new in this particular build — at least for the time being — but this photo does confirm that we are inching ever closer to the all-important RTM status.

The stable build of the operating system should hopefully be announced sometimes later this month.

General availability, as reported earlier, is slated for a fine day in October. Microsoft recently made it official that Windows 8.1 will be unveiled on October 18. The new operating system will be offered as a free update from the Windows Store for all Windows 8 users.
