expecting it to arrive after August — others by the end of the year. Well, we might just have a month to go by now. September 9 is said to be the exact date Windows 8.1 Update 2 (or by some counts Windows 8.2) is going live. These, obviously, are unofficial leaks coming from channel partners, so nothing is set in stone. And even if it was, it could easily slip by a month or two, depending on development and logistics. But anyway, this report cites Windows leakers who are claiming that Microsoft is planning to launch the second update to Windows 8.1 in September. If we go by delivery via Windows Update, then the September 9 could be on, as it is the day when Redmond will roll out Patch Tuesday fixes for the month. Windows 8.1 Update 2 is an anticipated arrival, not just for the fact that it is expected to include a brand new Start Menu that is supposed to make the modern OS easier to use on desktops. Microsoft already confirmed the return of the Start Menu at its BUILD 2014 developer event.]]>

  • I’m getting along just fine without the start menu. Honestly the only thing I’m missing from it is how Libraries were on the start menu, and you could have them list. I’m still getting use to having my user folder added to the start menu and getting to things that way.

  • So now it looks as though the start menu will be in the update. It’s been going back and forth between this update and windows 9. I’m glad it’s coming sooner rather than later. September 9th is right around the time the update has been speculated, so not a total surprise.
