Windows 8 is NOT coming out in January 2013

I love the blogosphere but I swear…sometimes…

OK, let’s cut the crap.

A bunch of sites have been quoting russian sites and “experts” about Windows 8 coming out in January 2013.

Not going to happen.

Anyone who has actually worked in software development would know that any target that is 2 years away is just that…a target.

There are so many moving parts that have to come together to make this version of Windows come together that ANYONE (from within Microsoft or without) who tells you that there is a definite release date is lying to you.

In addition to all the features that Microsoft has to develop that we actually know about, there are so many things evolving from Apple and Google etc, there will surely be new features that are thrown in at the last minute.

Like I said before, anyone who says that doesn’t happen has clearly never been a developer.

I find it amusing but mildly irritating that so many reputable blogs have come forward to carry this story.

Here’s a more accurate statement.

Based on what we know so far, Windows 8 is likely to be released to the public in 2013 or 2014.

Anyone who can get more definite than that has a bridge to sell you..
