How to Access It

  • Invoke Settings Charm either through the Charms Bar or key combo “Win + I”.
  • Select “Change PC Settings” option located at the bottom of the Settings Charm pane. This will launch PC Settings.
  • Select “Devices” tab from the left pane of PC Settings.
The Devices section lists all the external connected devices. Besides that, if Windows fail to automatically detect any device that you have connected, then you can add it manually. Also, you can remove any device by simply clicking on the circular button containing a “-“on the right side of the selected device. Windows 8 provides a new facility for metered connection. If you work on a metered bandwidth, then you might want to save unnecessary downloads. In this case, simply turn off “Download over metered connections” from this section. Now, if Windows detects a metered connection, it won’t automatically download device drivers in order to save you bandwidth.]]>
