heard, the company was contemplating offering this version to Windows 8 users with a small fee if they wanted to directly upgrade to the latest version of the operating system — without the hassle of first installing Windows 8.1 and then Windows 8.1 Update. The latest on the grapevine is that this continues to be the case right now. The core version of Windows 8 still has a rather large user base, and it seems that Microsoft is now ready to target this group of users with an offer to update. Good thing is that acquiring new license keys this way might also get them access to Windows 9, completely free of charge. While other users will have to purchase the new operating system when it launches in early 2015. Take everything with a pinch of salt, though. Windows 8.1 Update 2 is expected to debut in August or September, and Microsoft is very likely to share more information about it in the weeks to come.]]>

  • It’s worth it, if it gets you a free Windows 9 key

    • You’re right! 🙂 There’s no incentive to buy it if you don’t get access to WIndows 9. They have to be tied at the hip to make Windows 8.1 2 worth getting.
