macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android, you name it. Microsoft has partnered with three security firms to make Windows Defender ATP available on other platforms to detect and mitigate security risks.
The three security vendors are namely Bitdefender, Lookout, and Ziften.
Redmond provided the details in this post, revealing that the company’s newest effort to protect its enterprise customers on Windows 10 is no long exclusive to the desktop operating system. These strategic partnerships promise to greatly streamline security for enterprise users.
In the words of Rob Lefferts, Partner Director for Microsoft’s Windows & Devices Group:
“We’ve heard from our customers that they want protection and visibility into potential threats on all of their device platforms and we’ve turned to partners to help address this need.
We have been working closely with our partners to ensure the integration of their solutions with Windows Defender ATP is simple and easy to implement with only a few clicks. There are no requirements for any additional infrastructure, and once the integration is set, new events from on boarded macOS, Linux, iOS and Android devices will start surfacing into the Windows Defender ATP console.”
And although only three vendors are in the mix now, the software titan hopes to enter into partnerships with other security firms as well.
The idea, overall, is to allow companies using Windows Defender ATP the ability to extend the service to their entire install base. Lefferts continues:
“As attackers continue to move quickly, the security industry must work together to provide integrated experiences and technology.”
Awesome!
