The preview version of Microsoft’s upcoming operating system is finally out in the wild, and technology enthusiasts are slowly analyzing everything Redmond has bundled in the first ever upgrade to the Windows 8 platform.
Along with several visual improvements and customization options, the software titan has also packed several security enhancements in Windows 8.1 Preview to help protect users and their data.
Windows Defender, for example, now comes with impressive high-performance behavior monitoring, meaning the application automatically (and anonymously) sends an activity log to the cloud that is then further analyzed.
The interesting part is that signatures may be issued only minutes later to ensure that users are protected — 100 percent protected.
And not just that, Windows Defender can now identify malicious patterns based on behavior. In other words, it can black malware aimed at files, registry, process and threads, even network even before they get a chance to strike.
These are all welcome new additions that can take users security and protection to the next level. Windows Defender, obviously, is the built in antivirus software that is offered to Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 users.
And in case you were wondering, the application cannot be installed — it is automatically disabled once a third-party security program is detected, and turned on if a user removes it.
