Windows Live Messenger to be Retired in just a Few Months?

already arriving, this isn’t that surprising at all. There is nothing that Windows Live can do that Skype can’t, and Skype is much more popular and recognized at this point. If the rumor proves true, Microsoft will phase out Windows Live Messenger VERY quickly. In a few months it will be shut down and be nothing more than a memory. While we’ve seen the writing on the wall for a while now, this is admittedly quicker pace than I personally thought that Microsoft would take when it comes to phasing out the iconic Messenger service. It might not be as popular as it once was, but it continues to be in use by many people (mostly younger folk I’d wager). So no Windows Live Messenger after early 2013? Sounds reasonable I suppose. Anyone going to miss Windows Live Messenger or do you say good riddance? [ source ]]]>

  • Sad…I have been using Windows Live Messenger since I started using a computer…I still like/use it, but the truth is that most people I know don’t.

  • Not surprised, considering the “Metro UI” version of Skype asks you to start signing in with a Microsoft Account.

  • Yes it’s not an shocking news at all. The metro look and the app of Skype on windows store asking for login with Facebook and msn login makes it a legit news. The messenger is going to be shuted down.

  • Guys I think you have made a mistake their if Microsoft is gonna shutdown the portal of messenger than why it is pre-installed in windows 8 pro version.I don’t think it’s going too shutdown that soon.I love my messenger and still using it in Windows 8 PRO.
