information is available thanks to The Verge It appears that Cortana will replace the built in Bing search functionality in Windows Phone 8. While it will work in a similar fashion to Apple Siri, it will be fundamentally different in many ways. For starters, users will be able to set the manner in which they want it to call them. The assistant will utilize data from services like Bing, Foursquare and more, while providing complete contextual awareness. It will also be able to save information like location data, behaviors, personal information, reminders and contact information in a Notebook system. Cortana will also track items like flight timings and details from emails to generate notifications. What is not certain for now is what Microsoft will call this voice assistant when it arrives with Windows Phone 8.1. The company seems to be using the name Cortana internally during the testing period, but it might decide to give it a new name when it unveils it in about a month from now. But one thing looks set in stone — Cortana will appear on the screen as a circular animated icon, as has been leaked in a few videos and screenshots showing this feature in action. Stay tuned for more information on this anticipated new feature as it becomes available.]]>
