indicates that Windows Phone adoption has been on the up in a number of markets. However, these have been balanced off by the platform declining in a few other countries, confirming that Redmond still has a long way to go. In Europe, Windows Phone commands an overall market share of 9.2% — similar to showings in key markets over there including Italy, France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom. These are okay numbers, though, but not as much when you consider that these figures represent a drop of 0.3% compared to the same period last year. The delay in the launch of Windows Phone (and new devices) has taken its toll. All said and done, sales are still slow in the two markets that matter the most. Make them three. China offers Windows Phone figures of just 0.4% — unsurprising when you consider that even iOS is far away from the top with 15.2%. Android remains the clear leader there with 83.4%. Things aren’t much better in Japan either, with Microsoft’s mobile platform powering only 0.9% of smartphones sold in the country. And in home turf, the United States, Windows Phone is still far behind with only 4.3%. Android owns a solid 61.8% of the domestic market, leaving iOS as the runner up with 32.6%. Long story short, increasing sales in the US, and some other key markets is still a challenge for Microsoft.]]>
