Microsoft wants all its bases covered this time, as it prepares to unleash Windows 8.1, the latest version of its flagship operating platform. And the Windows Store retains an integral status in this new strategy.
We recently heard that Redmond is ready to debut gift cards with Windows 8.1 on October 18.
In fact, Amazon has already started selling them. But while the product page over at the shopping site did not provide too many details, Microsoft itself has remained rather mum on this new concept, with nary a comment on the gift cards yet.
But insiders already speculate that this is one feature that could be part of Windows 8.1.
And now we may have more detail on this exciting new option for fans of Microsoft ecosystem. A Twitter post aims to set things straight in this matter and confirms that the Windows Store Gift Cards are indeed part of Windows 8.1.
These will apparently be seen in-store with the launch of Windows 8.1, and as expected, can be used to purchase apps, games and other such stuff.
Redmond actually recommends retailers to offer them with every Windows device.
Obviously, a Microsoft Account will be needed to redeem them in the Windows Store, Windows Phone Store or the Xbox Store.
Rather interestingly, while a previous report claimed that a $15 card was set for release, this report claims that the cards are set to available in increments of $10, $25 and $50, all USD of course.
