installed the Developer Preview version of Windows Phone 8.1, you might be disappointed at the absence of this most important of features. Luckily, there is a simple way to get it outside of the US — and it is as easy as it gets! All you need to do is go to the Settings section of your handset and then change the region to US. Next, change the interface language to English (United States), reset your device, and Bob’s your uncle! It is worth mentioning here that you may have to reset a couple of times to get access to Cortana. But this not something that many people would mind in order to get early access to the feature rich digital voice assistant. Besides, since Cortana learns on the job, the more you use it, the better service you get, as the digital assistant integrates into your daily routine and gets better at predicting what you will need next. Although currently still locked to the US region, Microsoft is planning to bring Cortana to the UK and China later in the year, and more markets by 2015.]]>

  • Nice little trick! Great work on this developer preview. I look forward to the real version. I wonder if this outside of the US trick will apply with the actual phone or if they’ll realize how easy it is.
